Hannah LaMendola

Dance Instructor

Hannah began dancing at the Shannon Irish Dance Academy when she was 10 years old and has continued with great passion ever since. Under the instruction of Sophia Wyzgowski, TCRG, Hannah started as a Beginner and is now a Champion and competing in solos and teams across nationally and internationally, winning multiple awards.  She is the current 2018 US Open National Champion and plans to compete at the 2019 World Irish Dance Championships in the Spring. As a member of the Shannon Irish Dance Company, she has performed across Michigan at various venues and events including schools, senior living homes, festivals, pubs, parades, and more. In addition, Hannah has performed as a lead dancer in the annual production of An Irish Nutcracker. On top of realizing her love for Irish Dance, Hannah has found her closest friends at the Shannon.

Hannah teaches multiple levels of Irish dance classes at the studio, ranging from the Wee Ones to Adults. Many of the students Hannah has helped to instruct are still dancing and are very successful at competitions. She is close to all her students and loves seeing them whenever and wherever she can.

Hannah has a great love for Irish dancing and can’t imagine her life without it. She dedicates as much time as possible to her dance while keeping up with school. Hannah hopes to one day become a certified Irish Dance instructor (TCRG) and quite possibly a judge (ADCRG). With the help of her teacher, friends, and students, Hannah has advanced immensely, physically, mentally, and emotionally. Her dance family supports her in competition and everyday life. She is very grateful to them, more than she can describe.

As a teacher, Hannah believes students should learn and advance as much as they can and at their own pace. While winning is important to her, the benefits of losing also mean a great deal to her. She tries her absolute hardest to ensure each of her students are learning but also having lots of fun, too. Hannah does her best to make sure each student knows she is always there for them and wants them to succeed. Determination, patience, and most importantly love for the dance are what Hannah believes are required for the best experience in the world of Irish Dance.
